This journal prompt is designed to help guide you through transformation, rebirth, and new levels of awareness. If life has been heavy or hectic lately, give this prompt a try. Set the mood and join me for this intuitive prompt designed to get you back to yourself. Sit back, grab a journal or some comfort items (tea, soundscapes, candles, etc.), and let’s dive in.

Disclaimer: Feel free to answer these in whatever way travels easiest. Write in a private journal, answer aloud to yourself, use this as a bonding moment and journal with others, answer in the comments, or just ponder about it. Whatever method works best for you is what I want you to embrace.

  • What ways have I been abandoning or running away from myself?
    • This can include over sacrificing myself for work, friends, or school. This could show up as distractions in my life or bad habits (doomscrolling, chaotic drama, addictions, escapism, etc.) Abandoning oneself means anything that I do, say, or participate in that keeps me from true soul alignment and onward growth.
  • How does my self-perception shape my daily choices and routine?
    • If I have a bad self-image, do I do things to reflect that? (overindulging in ____ to fill the void, isolating myself, negative self-talk, and perception of others?) Do I allow my personal energy to impact the way I see the world? If I have a great self-image, do I extend that to others without guilt, resentment, or obligation? Does my mental and emotional world infect my tangible external world (in positive or negative ways)?
  • How can I show up for myself and others without absorbing their internal conflicts? How do I practice detachment with compassion + care?
    • Do I allow others’ situations, emotions, or actions to impact my inner world? Do I listen and absorb, or do I listen and observe? Do I feel an internal responsibility for others’ outcomes/emotions? How can I show up and care for others without managing their feelings or the outcomes of their situations? How do I detach from the situation but still show up fairly and unbiased?
  • What areas of my life need more slow and intentional nurturing? Where can I show up better for myself?
    • This one is precisely how it sounds. Do I neglect any aspect of my life that I shouldn’t? Do I value some areas of life more than others? What part of life needs my purest devotion? Work, school, emotions, health, mental, friends, partners, children, creativity, discipline, control? What do I value most, and do my energy and actions reflect that?

Thank you so much for your participation and effort. Any step towards healing is a win in my book; you don’t have to rush. There is no concrete destination or finish line. Take the next two minutes and ground yourself after this emotional endeavor. Smell the candle you lit earlier, rub your feet against the floor or blanket, take a deep breath, and release anything that the journaling didn’t. Take a second to feel your body and take note of any feelings you find important (physical, emotional, etc.)

The fact that you are here and willing to look into the mirror speaks volumes. Whether it’s a baby step or a full soul rebirth, I am here to connect, guide, and offer what I know so far. No matter if you answered all the questions or none of them, you still benefit; even just having these questions in your mental orbit will help you when the time is ripe. Thank you again for your ambition to be better.

Unconditionally,
